I notice that the seats are folding chairs. I'm guessing this must be a new trend to make the buildings more convertible and ready to sell.

picture it, page 24. the wt lady, with a head volume ~8 times that of the gentlemen sitting behind her, eager to have her voice boom in the kingdom hall, raising arms with 3 other "sisters", whereas all 4 males are abstaining.

This may be a screen shot taken from the move "Stepford Wives".
If so, the men are smiling and happy because their wives are obedient Androids that are programmed to say and do as they are told. The women are only too ready to parrot the lines that have been programmed into them by the men. The little boy will grow up thinking this is normal and how things should be and will hope to have a Stepford wife of his own someday .

Do you think there will be panic buying of food, guns ect?
by JimmyYoung ini wonder if there will be panic buying of food, guns, gas ect due to the corona virus.
what do you guys think?.

Right now there is so much misinformation it's difficult to get a clear handle on how serious it might be.
Yeah...I saw a headline that says that some are making a bigger issue of the Contra virus than it is, just to smear the Trump campaign.
I could see how an epidemic might make food supplies dwindle due to so many in the working force being sick. I bought groceries yesterday and picked up a large bag of powdered milk and a flat of canned condensed milk and flat of canned Vienna sausage and a second bottle of Whiskey (Simon's idea) to add to my already existing emergency food supply. Costco used to carry powdered eggs awhile back but they don't seem to carry them anymore.
As I said in a similar post, we live in earthquake country and since most stores only have one or two days worth of food on hand we keep a 2 week supply of food (for 4) on hand in case the big one hits and downed overpasses and bridges and power outages make it difficult or impossible for supplies to be brought in.
I am not a gun enthusiast and have never owned one but it did cross my mind that in a real disaster there would be those who will prey upon those who have a supply of food. I just don't see myself getting into a shoot out over a a couple of weeks of food and I don't see myself not sharing what I have with someone else. If it gets to that point, the food is going to run out eventually anyway no matter how much I've stored so I figure I'll just take things as they come. The Polyannaish part of me believes that things will work out somehow and maybe all I need is a can or two of pepper spray to ward off a hungry intruder.

and reminding him of all the failed prophecies etc etc.
although he would listen and acknowledge.

In for a penny...in for a pound. May as well keep going now that we've come this far. Better the Devil we know than the one we don't know...it all winds up the same in the end.

#1. "Tell me again why we need two carts full of these pamphlets, which by the way, no one is taking and remind me why we don't have any bibles on our carts even though we're supposed to be spreading gods word rather than mans?"
#2. "Some random guy just came up and handed me this Hip-Hop C.D that he made. He was so hot, I forgot to give him a Pamphlet LOL"
#3 "Don't be too sad about not having any children or grandchildren. Paragraph 6 in this 1972 Watchtower Bound Volume assures us that the New System will be here before too long and we'll have all eternity to have a family"
#4 "No seriously...has anyone ever told you that you look like an older Prince William?"
#5 "Well my Dad is an Elder and he said to tell you that you might be related to a monkey but we certainly aren't."
#6 Try to relax honey....I know the end of this wicked system of things could happen tomorrow but still, it's ok that we took the kids on this fun Saturday outing instead of out in the life saving ministry.

I just need to figure this out and I appreciate all the advice
Yep...this doesn't sound like and emergency by any means but obviously something is going on that triggered you to make your original post asking for our help. It's good that you are paying attention to your inner voice because on some level you already knew what everyone has told you. Don't ignore your inner voice. Proceed with the friendship if you choose . To be forewarned is to be forearmed. From this point forward, you'll have a larger view of what may be going on and can then act accordingly, if need be.
The occasional gentle hint here and there may be all that's needed in this case.
You: (smiling) I couldn't believe it...the other day 5 year old Bobby asked me who made the world. I was surprised that he's thinking about things like that already and I'm glad he mentioned it to me.
JW: Why's that?
You: Children can sometimes get the wrong idea or be frightened when they're exposed to things they're not ready to understand yet. I think big picture topics like that should be addressed on a need to know basis and it's best coming from the Childs parent. I'm sure you probably felt the same way when you were raising your kids.

Coronavirus / Covid-19 - The canary in the coal mine
by JimmyYoung inis anyone prepping by buying food that has a long shelf life?
i have been messing with it for years.
buying fat free powder milk, bullion cubes, rice, beans dried, and other things that has a shelf life of 25 years.

We live in earthquake country so we keep flats of food out in our garage such as canned vegetables, fruits, tuna, soups, spam, condensed milk, dried beans, rice etc. A lot of food comes in milk carton type containers now and it's good for over a year. Each year when we set the clocks back for Daylight Savings time, we change our stockpile out by putting the stored food into our regular food pantry rotation and replacing it with new stuff.
We have a water purifier and camp stove we use for camping and fuel for the stove stored in a heavy duty container out in a shed that gets chased out each year.
All this might last a couple of weeks but who knows what will happen after that. I suppose in a real long term disaster, anyone who appears not to be starving will be a target for the "have-not's" to prey on but I don't want to go down that road and think about obtaining a weapon.
As well as food, try to get hold of hand-sanitizer and some face masks (at least N95 rated)
Good idea and I was thinking I'd adding pain reliever like Advil and First Aid supplies and a bottle or two of Whisky to my stockpile. It would be good to have extra medications one might use but they'd need to be stored correctly and changed out before they expire.

They will absolutely try to “inculcate” (their word) your kids with their “life saving”beliefs and they’ll feel good about it and even keep track of the time so they can report it to the organization at the end of the month.
I’m sure on some level they care about you but getting you to become JWs is their first and foremost motive in going the extra mile for you.
You could mention to them that your kids are asking you religious questions lately and if they happen to ask them religious questions, they should refer them to you rather than try to answer them themselves.
Remember, they wouldn’t have allowed anyone to share their religious views with their children or take them to another church and would have been incensed at anyone who would have done so. You could remind them of that if they take issue with your request.

Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness
by geodude ini was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

8 day 12 per day assemblies taught me as a child how to go somewhere else mentally when I faced anything that was hopelessly daunting.
I learned how to speak publicly and had no problems as long as someone provided me with the topics and the words to say and no one asked ME for my own opinion.
I got good at seeking approval from authority figures.
